Narendra Modi, Rajinikanth to unite in Trichy, Tamil Nadu?
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra
Modi is expected to visit Tamil Nadu on Thursday, Sept 26. The Gujarat
CM is scheduled to attend a huge BJP youth conference in Trichy. While
the South Indian state is waiting for the much-expected visit of the
popular leader, the party reportedly is waiting for the arrival of
Rajinikanth.
BJP reportedly sent Rajinikath an invitation to participate in the mega
rally organised for Modi in Trichy. The South Indian superstar is
expected to meet the BJP leader. However, the actor and his close
associates did not divulge any information regarding his plan to meet
Modi.
BJP hoisted posters featuring Modi and Rajinikanth in Trichy. Media
reports speculated that the party has been trying to woo the superstar
to gain more votes during upcoming Lok Sabha election which is expected
to be held in 2014.
BJP, which could not form government alone in any South Indian states,
except Karnataka, has been trying to woo the voters in the region.
Hence, it was reported that Modi might meet Rajinikanth and the
popularity of the superstar might help BJP to win election.
Earlier it was reported that Rajinikanth may join politics soon. BJP
President in Tamil Nadu -- Pon Radhakrishnan appealed to Rajnikanth to
support the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha election which is expected
to be held in 2014.
Radhakrishnan, while speaking to media persons, said, "He is the most
responsible and respected person in the state and he has concerns for
the nation in general and the state in particular."
The state party president also added, "I issue an open appeal to the
actor to take a good decision and voice in favour of the party."
However, Rajinikanth himself has not confirmed the news on joining
politics.
